ARTISTIC EVENT SHOWCASING WORKS SIGNED BY CARMEN MARIN AND CONSTANTIN PACEA

WIN Gallery showcasing works signed by two of the most invites you to a unique artistic event notable Romanian contemporary artists, Carmen Marin and Constantin Pacea

Life entails constant and inescapable transitions from certainty to the unknown, from “terra firma” to abstraction and contemplation. It is this magical pendulum of the mind that allows us to rethink old realities and shape new ones, to uncover what lies beneath the semblance of things and reach for the essence.

The two artists that WIN Gallery is proposing to the public, in the context of this extraordinary event, organized with the support of the General Consulate of Romania in Seville and the City Hall of Marbella are remarkable exponents of the Romanian contemporary art scene.

They masterfully fuse artistic technique with intellectual pursuit and effusive imagination.

Carmen Marin captures the viewer with layered stories condensing autobiographical elements while at the same time appealing to the universal, to emotions and values that transcend the personal and the momentary. Often departing from the mundane, objects of everyday use become central characters and familiar tableaux provoke the audience to entertain and train a different way of seeing, as a master of detail and subtlety.

Constantin Pacea deftly explores the ways in which color, perspective and mood change perception and give new meaning to the same object of observation. The series of islands presented in this exhibition is a wonderful illustration of this method and the subject itself -the island- carries with it complex symbolism. At once isolation and refuge, it raises the question on the side of things that we choose to understand and materialize.

With this capsule exhibition, WIN Gallery engages once again in aesthetic pursuits and an act of cultural diplomacy that seeks to promote the elite of contemporary art and bring forth issues of relevance for a harmonious, cosmopolitan society.

Artist statement: "I think it's absurd to say that illusion and abstraction are thesame. Yet I believe there is truth in absurdity ( ... ) Facing every blank canvas, I attempt to reinvent myself. There will always be continuities with and breaks from the past, just as a given present moment always remains somehow attached to the immediate past and the immediate future.”

Awards and nominations: 2004The Olympic Sport and Art Contest Prize in Graphic Works, International Olympic Committee, Lausanne, Switzerland.
