MELODY IN FALL SHADES

Have you ever felt exuberance colliding with melancholy? Do you recall an instant, from an age or so ago, when your sight was suddenly enraptured by a tree sparkling its colors upwards, in a tamed sun, melting them into one another, in countless shades and shapes? Perhaps you stopped a moment short of whispering the Faustian “stay a while”. An anticipation of this bewitched palette inevitably vanishing into the immaculate winter, the confidence it will return yet never quite the same, the emotion, the harmony, the rhythm - all notes in a melody of seasons, of self through time.

With this new collection of artworks, WIN Gallery reveals a medley of images and sentiments associated with fall and, in a broader sense, with cyclicity in nature. Familiar scenes with falling leaves or ripe fruit serve as emblems of tender beauty and of the inescapable order of things, of the most unsettling and the most marvelous part in the playbook of the universe: transformation.

Where being and becoming meet, there is room for reflection, for sharing stories, and encountering new avenues toward one's expectations. The same key may open different drawers of consciousness; it is the way we perceive, ascribe relevance and power of representation to the different facets of change that influences the personal metamorphosis.

Ms. Marinela Măntescu-Isac, visual artist and curator of this exhibition, sets in dialogue the figurative and the abstract, deconstructing the subject into personal metaphors while, simultaneously, creating a collage of interpretations. The arrangement of the paintings and sculptures in relation to each other is not meant as a linear narrative but rather as a frame story. Together, they offer a “mood” of this particular fall and an excerpt from the “autumnal eternal”.

The present selection at WIN Gallery will transport you into a place where senses mutually translate, where the cadence of seasons can be seen, where colors can be heard. In this light, it is an overture to the intricate imprint that fall will continue to draw upon our minds and spirit, year after year. With each new journey into creativity, with each new theme we propose, we intend to explore the ways in which we make art and how art makes us who we are. We welcome collectors, the curious, the doubters and all seekers of beauty and meaning!
