A Curator’s Confession – A Conversation with Marinela Măntescu-Isac

- Between Emotion, Rigor, and Generosity -

There are artists who do not merely exhibit works, but reveal, with a unique sincerity, their own relationship with the world. Marinela Măntescu-Isac is one of them. Encountering her paintings can be described as a confession, a revelation, but also an analysis of the fragility and strength of the individual in the face of destiny. Trained in the rigorous environment of the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Academy of Fine Arts, under the guidance of masters Corneliu Baba and Marius Cilievici, the artist chose not to take refuge in comfortable certainties, but to constantly explore new emotional territories. And the role of curator—whether in painting, sculpture, or both—has complemented her painting and opened entirely new doors. Since the founding of WIN Gallery, Marinela Măntescu has been an artist who has touched souls, a unifying force among colleagues, and an extraordinary mentor to our team.

WIN Gallery: Many young artists are seduced by the appeal and “instant gratification” of social media. What is the role of a physical gallery for this new generation of artists?

Marinela Măntescu-Isac: The gallery represents direct contact with the artist’s work and the opportunity to meet the artist, to socialize with them, the buyer, and the public. Every piece, every work of art has its buyer. In the gallery, young artists discover and recognize their own value and gain the courage to move forward, which is very important.
